Creative Everyday

Hi there!  I love to try to be Creative Everyday.  Some days are better than others, just because life gets in the way.  If you would like to challenge yourself more to become CREATIVE EVERYDAY, please click on the link.  This will take you to a wonderful blog/website that is full of creative inspiration.  Leah hosts this every year.  She also has a Facebook Group if you'd like to join that as well.

I try to be creative everyday, but I don't always take photos of what I'm working on, which I know I should.  It's not hard, since I use my phone for photos and who doesn't have their phone with them most of the time these days, right?  So maybe I'll try to make that a priority for the 2nd half of 2017.
Hope you enjoy the pics below.  Just some of my Creative Everyday life.
Thanks for stopping by! Robin

Life Book Week 2, 3, 4 and 5

Week 2, Part 2, Tam showed us how to create a wonderful, colorful hummingbird.  It's tail feathers have positive affirmations (if you chose to include those) written on scrapbook, cardstock, and other random papers.  All glued to watercolor paper.  This was a fun lesson!

Week 3, Misty Mawn's lesson is titled, "the person I know best".  This is sort of a selfie, but she carried hers a step further.  After painting a somewhat decent selfie, she wanted us to paint OVER this all whimsical and funky.  But I just couldn't do it.  I took me too long to get this even looking remotely good, so I left it.

Week 4, Mandy van Goeije created these way cool story boards from Stick figures.  Who knew you could be so artistic with stick figures!  I got a little carried away with just drawing a page full of stick people, most doing yoga poses.  But super fun.

Week 5, Wendy Brightbill introduced us to ABSTRACT art with a lesson titled, "Paint your Intention".  Her's was so serene and calming.  Mine is wild and vibrant and bold.  I actually had painted an abstract similar to this one on a very large scale for one of my daughter's school friends, so I wanted to try and recreate it.  My word this year is Balance, so I included it in my painting.  I love how this turned out.  I may actually create another page of abstract just because it was fun. and out of the norm for me.

Life Book week 2 - Part 1

In week 2's lesson, Andrea Gomoll uses affirmations and intentions to make cards for yourself.  I decided to make the cards and incorporate into my Life Book Art Journal.  I chose to use quotes on my cards instead of affirmations.    This is the beginning of my cards page.  I gesso'd some Christmas Target Dollar Spot card holder tags and then I painted layer after layer on them with acrylics, spray inks and stencils. Once all of that was dry, I raided my stash and just found a few die cuts and cut outs to add to the front of the card holder.  The cards were also painted with layers and layers, then a scrap paper was glued on and finally, a few "she can" quotes from some gift wrap paper someone gave me. (I would credit the source, but I have no clue who sent it or where they got it.  I'll try and google it to find a link)

I hope you enjoy this little video of my quote cards.  They were alot of fun to make!  Thank you Andrea for a great Bonus lesson this week!

Life book 2017 Week 1

Life Book 2017 has begun!  This is my first year to participate in Life Book.  It's a 52 week online art course.  I'm excited to see how much I learn and progress this year.  This course utilizes watercolor art, mixed media art, meditation lessons, and you can download each lesson to keep forever!  I chose to do all of my lessons in this Strathmore Watercolor art journal hardbound book.  I love the weight of the watercolor paper, but it only has 48 pages, so I'll have to "tip in" a couple of pages in the back if I need them.  From what I understand though, not every week will have an art lesson to complete, so I'm hoping this book will suffice as it is.

Week 1 Warm up lesson - Tam used stars in her warm up lesson, but I chose circles.  That's what I love about this course and art; you can make it your own.  It's wonderful to have a guide and examples, but I love to customize it and make it my own.

Week 1 Main Lesson Background is called Star Girl. (I'm not very good with faces, but Tam is EXCELLENT as detailing all of the steps to draw a face)

I'm pretty happy with how she turned out.  I deviated from the lesson just a bit.  Tam had a basket of stars next to the girl, but I chose to use a quote that I liked.  I put it on a Project Life card and glued it into my Life Book Journal.

Here's a close up of her face.

Zentangling prayers

The title of this post may seem a little odd, but after you read this, it'll make sense haha!

Working from home, I rarely meet my coworkers but we still feel close because we have so much interaction via instant messaging, phone calls, etc. When a coworker asked me to design a custom artwork for her sister that was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, I was honored. She gave me the basic design and let me have free reign. I completed this and sent it from where I live in FL to where she lives in South Dakota.  Best of all, she loves it and so does her sister. I pray it brings hope and comfort as she travels this road of the uncertainty and rounds of treatment.  #zentangle #breastcancer #cancersucks #pinkribbon #butterfly #prayforacure #zendoodle #zia #doodle#doodle #art
